Okay, on a more serious note, I think it was key that Obama mentioned a few important issues in his speech.

1) Single moms - being a single mom now, it really helps to hear him point out a growing phenomenon in America, where food and shelter have to provided for the children, AND a caregiver.

2) Retirement - baby boomers are already at this stage, and being the fathers of our county (and mothers) their pension checks have yet to provide them with a lifestyle that maintains their dignity.

3) and more…

He gives not only examples of how he wants to help them, but is quite clever (or responsible - which ever angle you want to look at it from) in stating how much each issue will cost the government, and how the government will pay for it. THAT IS KEY. He basically gained the confidence of those who like him, and those who do not, just by stating how the government will use the taxpayers dollar. People want to know where their money is going.
