I was expecting this 3-4 months ago after Obama won the nomination but I guess Powell decided to wait until he was certain Obama was going to win. Nonetheless, this is a significant endorsement because Powell can’t be accused of partisanship when he says this about Sarah Palin:
“I don’t believe she’s ready to be president of the United States.” - Globe and Mail
Or this about Obama:
“Obama displayed a steadiness, an intellectual curiosity, a depth of knowledge.” ”He has met the standard of being a successful president, being an exceptional president.” - CNN
I don’t think this endorsement is a game changer but its certainly one more nail in the coffin of McCain’s campaign.
