I realize Palin and McCain can’t be held responsible for every racist nut that comes to their rallies but they are to blame if they do nothing about it. Its their rally after all. I once volunteered at an Obama rally in West Virginia, to help people get seated and we were trained to look for offensive materials. On top of that every person is supposed to get screened at the door, where campaign staff is typically present. Why hasn’t campaign’s volunteers or staff stopped this man from getting inside? Why hasn’t there been any apologies from Palin or McCain about the racist behavior at their rallies? This isn’t an isolated incident, it is a theme that has developed at many recent rallies and there is plenty that Palin and McCain can do to discourage, set the record straight and even prevent it. Frankly, I don’t think these rallies are safe for minorities to attend and the fact that Palin and McCain are reluctant to do anything about it is very disturbing to say the least.
If you are wondering why no one said anything to the man with the stuffed monkey and an Obama sticker? Well, Just look at some other people at that rally:
