Why Oct. 14th? Could it be because Harper wants to get it over with before Obama wins on Nov. 4th? Some liberals seem to think so. I actually think Oct. 14th works out better for Liberals and NDP because the ads will come into full swing across the border and there is bound to be some spill over. I think Harper wants elections on Oct. 14th because the Economy is expected to get worse before it gets better. It also sends a message that he is in control of Canada and will not wait for Dion to get his act together, even if it means he has to break his own “non-binding” law. 

My concern is that there is a set of completely pointless by-election on Sept. 8th and Sept. 22nd if there is a Canada wide election just few weeks later. There seems to be a lack of basic common sense in parliament these days. I suppose all the more reason to march to the voting booths.
