Well, it seems what’s old is new again with a green flavor. Back home and some years back in Canada, we all used non-plastic bags to carry our groceries. Then somebody invented plastic grocery bags and sold the idea to the place where all food as we know it comes from (the grocery store), it was cheap so why not? Well, its bad for us and the environment. They can take up to 1000 years to degrade and while thats happening, they contaminate our soil and water by breaking down into tiny bits. Also consider that there are over a billion single-use plastic bags given out for “free” each day. The cost to society as a whole can be pretty high over the long term and so its no wonder some cities and countries are trying to get rid of them. Pakistan banned them completely. Anticipating that plastic bags are on the way out, I invested about 2 bucks into 2 reusable grocery (99c each) bags made out of recycled materials at a local Dominion.
So here is my review of the bag, putting the benefits to the environment aside. The bag is pretty sturdy and while it doesn’t look like much when you first buy it, it can cary a surprising amount of groceries. I didn’t need more then 2 bags for my typical grocery store visit and I still could have filled it up more if needed. It also doesn’t leave a mark on your hands like plastic bags do while they cut into your skin if you are carrying a heavy load. Its also washable if you spill something in it. Overall, makes walking to the local grocery store a lot easier without having to worry about flimsy plastic bags that are about to rip any second, best 2 bucks I spent all month. Since its reusable, just don’t forget to bring it with you next time. Oh and one more thing, these bags attract attention from the opposite all sexes since doing something about sustainability is “in” these days so if you are single, make sure to carry these with you at all times while shopping for groceries, you never know what can happen ;)

But what if one wants to attract the same sex?!
