In the spirit of looking at the glass as half full, let me bring a different perspective into yet another Tory scandal. Clearly, accountability and even competence are no longer words any fair minded person could associate with the Conservative party but this Bernier scandal might have actually helped the poor Tories by making them look a bit less boring.

Leaving National secrets behind at a girlfriend’s house kinda spoils the traditional view of Harper Conservatives as rigid, clean, traditional and a bit boring. Now, they are all of a sudden, rebels against basic national security rules, with generally the following response to any criticism during question period: “don’t hate the playa hate the game dude.” This type of scandalous, “I know give a %$@$” behavior is exactly what some of my high school classmates aspired to in order to look “bad”. Next thing you know, one of them might get drunk and make homophobic comments… oh wait.

I think we are starting to see a pattern here, like some of my high school classmates, Canadian Conservatives are just trying to fit in with their republican friends sitting at the back of the class. With more mismanagement of national security, economy, and environment, they’ll soon be the “coolest” gang on the block.
