As Carter endorses Obama, its pretty clear, as it has been for weeks, that Obama will be the winner of the Democratic primaries. It will be official as of Tuesday night. Its also pretty clear that Clinton has been trying to muscle her way into the VP spot and for good reasons, thanks to her self-defeating tactics, she hasn’t been the top choice for a while. Obama has some great options to choose from, here are my top three:
1. John Edwards
2. Al Gore
3. Bill Richardson
Today, Clinton has repeatedly hinted that she would be open to the VP spot but have her tactics been so destructive that she burned too many bridges? I don’t know, I can only imagine the back room talks taking place between the campaigns within the next 48 hours. For Obama, he needs to pick a VP that can appeal to lower income white voters and Latino voters. I also think Clinton’s closing strategy will be judged based on Obama’s decision to pick Hillary as his VP or not. If he does not, I expect most pundits will claim Clinton’s strategy to be the biggest blunder in political history but if she does get the VP position, it will likely be the most brilliant move of any loosing candidate in political history to cling the VP spot.
