Since my time has been dominated by exams and assignments, here are some, off the top of my head, bits and pieces:
- This so called “piracy scandal” got some major attention, incredible use of free media by the protestors, I am not sure if they could have wished for anything more. I suppose its a bit twisted in today’s world that getting arrested by police at gun point may actually be a good.
- Major blunder by Foreign Affairs Minister Maxime Bernier, there is a time and place for everything and he got both of those wrong. First he said: “There’s a question to maybe have a new governor.” A few hours later, “Canada is not calling for any changes to the Afghan government.” He got the “clarification” wrong too. I am not a fan of the war but if our troops will be there and risk their lives, it only seems logical to put an end to the worlds biggest export of heroin which is supported by government corruption (which does require changes). Afghan’s heroin is a lethal drug that has killed way more young people then any terrorist.
- When will there be elections? This September/October is when I predict Dion will make his stand. Anything later then that and he is risking giving Harper a full term in a minority government by going too close to the fixed election date of October 19th 2009. We all knew it had to end someday.
