How do conservatives want to “modernize” the immigration system? Well, give more powers to their immigration minister to filter applicants giving conservatives the power to choose who they want and don’t want to be approved for citizenship.
Right, this must be modernizing because because conservatives have a great record on advocating for diversity, multiculturalism and immigration…
The vote on NDP’s motion to block the bill didn’t get passsed, yes they abstained again because it would have triggered an election which Liberals say they are not ready for. There is at least one Liberal MP who is making a fuss about it, pledging that he will vote against the bill no matter what. There are other Liberal MP’s who have written criticizing the amendment like Omar Alghabra, whom I like and respect.
Immigrants and citizens should be concerned because this could threaten the very foundation of diversity and multiculturalism in our society unless there is equality, fairness, and transparency are at the heart of any immigration reform.

Vlad, why exactly are Liberals not ready for an election? I don’t understand this. If they are pro-immigrants, shouldn’t they take an action immediately instead of avoiding to cast their vote?
Thank You
Kind Regards
