This will be a test if Edwards really meant what he said when it comes to lobby groups & special interest. If he meant what he said, he will throw his support behind Obama, otherwise he’ll throw the support behind Clinton who has taken plenty of money from corporate lobby groups in the past.

Edwards leaving is good news for Obama because they’ll stop splitting the anti-Clinton vote. In Nevada when democrats had to choose between the top two candidates, Edwards people went to Obama.

Perhaps this is why the timing for Edwards to leave is now. If he is fishing for a VP job, which I think he is, will he follow his supporters or will he lead them towards Clinton? We’ll have to wait and see, but this race just got a whole lot more unpredictable.
